Kehena Hideaway

A relaxing getaway embraced by the natural world

Fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves as cool ocean breezes  stream through your bedroom. The sun rises each morning filling the home with light. Shower in soft, filtered rainwater from our catchment system and have your Kona coffee on the outdoor deck as you try to distinguish the dozens of different bird calls all around.
As the unparalleled beauty of nature sinks in, you’ll realize our inspiration in designing this jewell of a home.

Pampered by comfort & luxury

Newly renovated in 2021, the home is owned and designed by a local interior designer with a special skill for creating spaces that give a sense of comfort and balance. Open spaces and a thoughtful floor plan create ease, while luxury finishes and artful touches inspire moments of gratitude for the beauty surrounding you.

Both bedrooms have king beds featuring Keetsa brand high-end firm mattresses and crisp percale cotton bedding. All the modern luxuries are here, and we’ve stocked the home with everything you might need.

Master Bedroom – King

Second Bedroom – King

Volcanos, Hot Springs & Black Sand Beaches

This is a part of Hawaii free from frantic tourism. You’ll easily fall into the flow of the slow-paced, gracious nature of the area and feel the welcome hospitality and aloha that we all treasure.

The home is part of a small cluster of roughly 35 homes along the coast in a small grid of four roads. This small enclave is then surrounded by three large forest reserves, three state parks, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and virgin open spaces so tranquil that one of the largest dwellings in the area is the nearby Buddhist Monastery.
This is a very lush and secluded area. There are no street lights, so flashlights and headlamps can be helpful on nighttime walks. We are minutes from the active lava flow at Kalapana and Hot Ponds of Ahalanui Park. Enjoy the nearby Kapoho Tide Pools and admire the beautiful formations at the Lava Tree State Park.
We are close to the Kalani Retreat Center, Volcanoes National Park, Kaimu Beach, Isaac Hale Beach, Uncle Robert’s Kava Bar, and the oceanside McKenzie State Park.
Kehena Black Sand Beach is a ten minute walk. This clothing-optional beach is know for dolphins that come to play with humans.

The area is a perfect retreat from city life and technology. Walk for miles along a lava shelf with tide pools with new plants popping out through lava rock that not long ago, flowed in molten form.
